What we do
SUPPORT FOR WORKING PARENTS AND THEIR LEADERS
At Transitioning Well, we have a long history supporting employees as they transition from ‘working person’ to ‘working parent’.
This can be a very vulnerable time for working parents. And, when left unmanaged, can lead to mental health distress that can impact the worker, their team, and the organisation they work for.
Our programs to support working parents are evidence based, and designed and facilitated by leading workplace psychologists to help organisations support working parents to transition well.
We have a range of products and services in place to support not only the working parents in your organisation, but also the people who support them including:

Employers with supportive practices in place see the benefits

Guided by leading workplace psychologists, our Parental Leave Transition Coaching Program is comprised of individual coaching sessions to provide new and expectant working parents with the tools and resources needed to maximise transition success.
Each coaching session is customised to the unique needs of the individual parent, and complemented by our digital adjunct, the Parent Well.
Common themes covered during coaching include:

We can also offer coaching sessions with managers to ensure your working parent support is consistent across your organisation and parents aren't relying on the ‘boss lottery’ to get the support that they need.

Workshops and webinars
We offer three learning streams to help you support the working parents in your organisation.
1. Sessions for employees
We all know that baby’s arrival is just the beginning of the journey.
That’s why we offer a range of workshops to support the various phases of working parenthood, from expecting a baby and adjusting to life as a working parent, through to managing the challenges of being a working parent of older children, or juggling multiple caring responsibilities while working.
Our sessions are designed to meet your people where they are at in their journey, and give them the practical tools and supports they need to thrive at work, for the benefit of the individual as well as your organisation.
Example topics include:
- Preparing for Parental Leave
- Moments of Connection: Exploring Common Themes
- During Parental Leave
- Returning from Parental leave
- Caring for the Carer: Supporting Self in the Carer Role
- From Balance to Boundaries
- Fatigue Antidote: Preventing Burnout for Working Parents.

2. Sessions for dads
Acknowledging the unique needs of dads – and the evolving role of dads more broadly in society – we’re proud to partner with The Father Hood to deliver a range of workshops to engage the working dads in your organisation.
Dads today have the chance to define themselves so much more broadly than their father’s generation. There’s extraordinary opportunity, as well as challenges to overcome.
Backed by evidence and expert perspectives, these sessions focused on dads tackle societal biases head-on and get to the heart of how dads can break free of restrictive gender norms and thrive, for the benefit of everyone.
Example topics include:
- It’s the Best Time in History to Be a Dad
- The Fastest Road to 50/50
- Fatherhood 2.0
- The Evolution of Secondary Care.

3. Sessions for managers & HR
Do your leaders know:
- What to say if someone discloses a pregnancy loss?
- What support people experiencing fertility treatments need?
- How to talk about flexible work options?
- The legal entitlements for working parents?
At Transitioning Well, we don’t believe that anybody should have to rely on the ‘boss lottery’ to get the support they need.
That’s why we strongly advocate for all workplaces to host sessions to help their managers and HR departments provide consistent support to the working parents in their organisation.
With an option to add on legal insights from our trusted legal partner, these sessions aim to give your team the best practice strategies they need to support your working parents. Example topics include:
- Supporting the Mental Health and Wellbeing of Working Parents
- Supporting the Transition to Parenthood: Legal Obligations and Best Practice Across the Parental Leave Transitions
- HR and Executive Briefings Customised to Your Organisation

Specialised support services: Fertility and pregnancy loss support
In recognition that not all journeys to parenthood are predictable, we’re proud to offer two specialised support services:
- Pregnancy Loss Support
- Fertility Support
Designed to support your employees when an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) isn’t enough, these specialised support services can help support your employees through very difficult times.
Please note that all our specialised support services are delivered as 1:1 sessions with a registered psychologist, and customised to each individual circumstance.

Career Transition Series
Many of us will experience career transitions in our lifetime - whether it is having a baby or a career change, managing a personal crisis, or retiring from the workforce altogether. As an employer or manager, it can be hard to know how best to support someone during these times of career transition.
The Career Transition Series provides workplaces with research-led and practical approaches. It shares the stories of organisations supporting their people through eight key transitions, highlights what has worked and relays lessons for others.
The transitions that parents and carers must navigate represent some of the most significant moments in their working life. Changes associated with these transitions require huge shifts emotionally and mentally. Supporting parents and carers to consciously navigate the caring journey can provide them with strategies that will support them through future transitions, helping them to manage the intersection between life and work over their entire working lives.
Developed in partnership with National Mental Health Commission, the series was produced through the National Workplace Initiative after research and consultation highlighted the need for guidance on supporting career transitions.
