As a small business ourselves, we understand the unique challenges you face, both as an employer and as a parent.

Running a business can be stressful. In fact, 46 per cent of small business owners reported anxiety and depression as a result of running their own business in 2021, with 26 per cent ranking mental health as an ‘immediate’ concern.

As a parent, the idea of stepping away from a small business – be it your own or one you work for – to be with a new child in your family can feel like a big ask when so much is going on.

The challenges we face as new parents can sometimes feel insurmountable.

One in five mums and one in 10 dads suffer from postnatal anxiety and/or depression. Chances are someone you know has gone through this.

Sadly, 74 per cent of parents don’t seek help until crisis point. And, when you’re working in a stressful environment already, this mental ill-health can fast be amplified.

What can you do to help?

We know you have a lot on your plate. You might not have the time, or the expertise, to invest in supporting yourself or your staff through the perinatal period, be that as an employee of a small business or a small business owner.

It can feel like a lot. But equipping yourself with the right support tools can make all the difference.

Our team of qualified practitioners are here to help.

We are developing a simple, digestible suite of resources to help you create a working environment that positively impacts mental health and wellbeing through the perinatal period (perinatal = the time before and after the birth of a child). Whether it’s help designing a handover plan, brushing up on your legal obligations or co-designing flexible work arrangements, we’re designing content to help you from early pregnancy through to the return-to-work phase.
